What trends or innovations do you believe will shape the future of your field, and how are you positioning yourself (or your firm) to be at the forefront? Advances in data collection and processing technologies are driving innovation throughout our field. Many traditional methodologies in the construction industry are being optimized and enhanced using newly-available technology. Sanborn, Head & Associates, Inc. is incorporating real-time data collection and visualization into many of our services, including construction observation, environmental monitoring, and due diligence support, allowing us to respond more quickly and efficiently than ever.

Who or what has inspired you most in your career, and what advice would you share with the next generation of women entering the A/E/C industry? I’ve been inspired by the hard work and dedication of the women around me; I’ve been so fortunate to have many professional women in my family who have been excellent role models. I’ve since been able to work with amazing women who have been incredibly successful in this male-dominated industry. For the next generation: trust yourself, be willing to try new things, and don’t be afraid to speak up!

What’s your favorite way to recharge or get inspired outside of work? Doing something artsy - knitting, sketching, felting, or dabbling in a number of other crafts.
