Senior Project Coordinator
Cranshaw Construction
What trends or innovations do you believe will shape the future of your field, and how are you positioning yourself (or your firm) to be at the forefront? One of the most time-consuming parts of my job used to be organizing and tracking project documents. From drawings and specs to warranty information, we’d maintain massive binders of printouts. Now, we use Procore for project management and have added BuildR to streamline closeout documentation. Switching to cloud-based systems like these will continue to be a game-changer for the industry, especially for owners. They can find information faster, track warranty expirations, and submit claims. The transition took effort, but it’s been worth it for both our workflow and the owner’s experience.
Who or what has inspired you most in your career, and what advice would you share with the next generation of women entering the A/E/C industry? Growing up, my dad was a plant manager for a cabinet manufacturer, and I loved visiting his office to “organize” his plans and files. Looking back, I probably should have known I was destined for a career in construction! Now, my daughter loves coming into my office, just like I did. My advice to her generation is simple – find what you love and go after it.
What’s your favorite way to recharge or get inspired outside of work? I love getting crafty, especially with diamond painting which I find incredibly meditative.
Do you have a hidden talent or a surprising fact about yourself that most people wouldn’t know? I foster pregnant cats and their kittens for the Woonsocket Cat Sanctuary.
