2024 Women in Construction: Melissa Mayhew, Aceto Acoustics

Melissa Mayhew
APM / Project Accountant
Aceto Acoustics

What was your greatest professional achievement or most notable project in the last 12 months? My greatest professional achievement is taking on this new role here at Aceto Acoustics! With over 18 years of invaluable experience at Metro Walls, Aceto Acoustics sister company, I learned how a business operates, how to manage a successful team, and the importance of relationship building. Now, I get to apply those skills and leverage my experience and connections I have made within the industry, in my new role as APM/Project Accountant at Aceto Acoustics.

What has been the driving force behind your success in the AEC industry? My driving force has been my desire to learn and personal growth. I’ve been extremely fortunate that throughout my career, so many people have supported me, believed in me, and invested in me. I appreciate all those people and the opportunities I was given to do what I love, and that has driven me to continuously invest in myself. It’s the dedication to growth and learning that I feel has contributed to my success in the industry.

What is your favorite / most beneficial part of Women in Construction week? My favorite thing is seeing women in the industry come together and support each other. WIC week helps showcase all the emerging women in the industry and reiterates that their goals for success in any field is not dependent on their gender. Showing women that hard work and dedication will make you an asset in any industry, including the AEC industry.

What are your goals for the future? My goal is to be a great leader and role model, particularly for young women in our industry. I strive to continue to earn the respect of my peers through my dedication and continuous growth, and establishing myself as someone whose opinions are valued and seen as a respected and successful leader.
