Acella Construction completes 4,200 s/f Tiger’s Den at Thayer Academy

Braintree, MA Acella Construction completed the Tiger’s Den at Thayer Academy, at 745 Washington St.

Thayer Academy is an independent, co-educational day school for grades 5-12 operating since 1877. The Tiger’s Den is located in the school’s Cahall Campus Center, which is part of the academy’s larger physical education and athletic complex. In addition to the Tiger’s Den, Cahall Campus Center also houses the academy’s dining facilities, locker rooms, and the William M. Smith Wrestling Center.

Acella Construction was brought on to better separate the wrestling area and the overflow study/lunch area from the Tiger’s Den, allowing for equipment or items to be stored and kept secure on the wrestling side of the space.  Richard Tropeano, project manager for Acella Construction, oversaw this 4,200 s/f project.

Acella was chosen for this project in part based on their track record with Thayer Academy.  Previously, Acella Construction has also worked on Thayer’s Center for the Arts Frothingham Hall Makerspace, Thompson Hall Theatre, Summer Projects and Administrative Office, and the middle school computer lab, as well as overseen renovations to three middle school classrooms.

The Acella academic team worked with Ech MacNeely Architects, Inc., coordinating to ensure the project was kept under budget and on time.

“It’s always great working with Thayer Academy,” said Ryan LaVangie, vice president of sales and marketing for Acella Construction.  “The school is constantly working to better improve their students’ experience, and it’s rewarding to be called in on these projects that help enhance their campus time after time.”
