ADD Inc takes Top Honors at IIDA New England Interior Design Awards 2011

ADD Inc's design of Adobe's Waltham workspace received Best Office over 80,000 s/f and Best in Show at the IIDA New England Interior Design Awards. The annual ceremony, held at the Institute of Contemporary Art, recognizes excellence in design and celebrates the importance of team work in the successful completion of superlative interior projects. "We are delighted to receive such design recognition by IIDA New England, especially with the tremendous competition from other accomplished design firms," said Fred Kramer, president of ADD Inc. "The quality of submissions was exceptional, and being honored for design excellence is extremely gratifying for us as well as our client." The planning and design concepts took their cues from Adobe's uniquely collaborative process - favoring open spaces over large individual workstations. All of Adobe's major sites are LEED certified at the Platinum level, earning the company the distinction of ranking among the most environmentally conscious businesses in the world. Eager to raise the bar of sustainability, Adobe challenged ADD Inc to meet the requirements of Version 3 of the USGBC's LEED Platinum Certification to ensure maximum energy efficiency, water conservation and waste management. The project is one of the first in New England to receive Platinum Certification under the updated LEED system and demonstrates Adobe and ADD Inc's continued commitment to leadership in green design. The close collaboration of all team members was instrumental in the project's successful implementation. In a unique show of creative cross-pollination, Adobe invited ADD Inc to utilize and test new software intended to connect individuals and facilitate the exchange of information. The design team embraced the opportunity and suggested valuable systems enhancements, many of which can be found in the product's final release form. In addition to ADD Inc, the project team includes Berry Construction, AHA Consulting Engineers, Creative Office Pavilion, Teknion, and Tandus. ADD Inc, a premier architecture and design firm, creates award-winning projects across the country from its offices in Boston, MA and Miami, FL. With an innovative spirit and deep expertise, the firm's design teams develop a guiding vision for each project to enhance value and enrich communities. By merging that vision with collaboration and business savvy, ADD Inc delivers consistently notable results in workplace, mixed use, academic, retail, branding and residential design.
