Bob Schieffer of CBS News to speak at Stamford Marriott

In a meeting open to the public, Bob Schieffer, the dean of CBS News and the moderator of Face the Nation will be the Real Estate Finance Association's guest on December 9th at the Stamford Marriott. He will speak about his experiences during the just completed Presidential Election, the state of affairs of the United States and his concerns and hopes for the future. Schieffer will discuss the genesis of his new book, Bob Schieffer's America. Attendees will receive a copy of the book at the book signing following his presentation.
Schieffer has been with CBS News for 39 years and has served 23 years as anchor on the Saturday edition of CBS Evening News. He has been chief Washington correspondent since 1982, the moderator of Face the Nation since 1991, and has periodically been the interim weekday anchor of the CBS Evening News. Schieffer is one of the few journalists to have covered all four of the major Washington national assignments: the White House, The Pentagon, United States Department of State, and United States Congress.
The event, which includes lunch, will begin at 11:45 a.m. and end at 1:30 p.m. The program is open to REFA-CT members and to the public. The $60 non-member fee includes lunch and the book. Pre-registration is preferred.
On December 17th at the Hartford Club in Hartford Rob Simmons, Connecticut's First Business Advocate, will speak to the REFA membership. This will be a breakfast program with registration and networking starting at 7:30 with breakfast and the presentation starting at 8:15.
Simmons was nominated by Governor M. Jodi Rell and confirmed by unanimous vote of the Connecticut General Assembly in April 2007. He has spent over 40 years in public service at the local, state and federal levels. In November 2004, the former congressman was the first Republican to be elected to a third term in Connecticut's 2nd District since Horace Seeley-Brown in 1954 - one half century ago.
