BOND (Bond Brothers) has recently been recognized as leaders in the field of construction management, receiving three awards for exemplary work. BOND has been honored by:
* The International Facility Management Association with the Best Practices award for the firm's renovation of Holland & Knight's Boston office;
* The Construction Management Association of America's Award of the Year for the renovation of the Smith College Clark Science Center; and
*The Boston Society of Architect's Harleston Parker Metal for Harvard University's 10 Akron Street Residence Hall.
IFMA awarded BOND the Best Practices award for the firm's work on the Holland & Knight project. The 2012 IFMA Boston Awards of Excellence recognizes the finest advancements and contributions in facility management. This award honors the team whose facility management program, project, system, and innovation, has had a substantial, positive effect on the success of their organization.
BOND was contracted to provide preconstruction and construction management services related to the reconstruction/refresh of 5 floors within 10 St. James St. office tower for the law firm of Holland & Knight Completed on time and within budget, BOND's preconstruction team provided multiple level budgeting, value options and constructability insights into the challenge of renovating a 24/7 operating law firm while not disrupting daily operations.
The construction program included: complete lighting replacement and integration of new energy standards throughout the space, as well as the realignment of office layouts. There was extensive demolition within as well as the construction of the conferencing center which required detailed pre-planning around client meetings, training and seminars and other business events to ensure no disruption to the law firm's daily operation.
BOND was acknowledged for exemplary work by the CMAA receiving the 2012 Building Project of the Year Award for Renovation/Modernization (Construction less than $20 million). This award celebrates outstanding projects, in various categories based on overall quality, safety cost and schedule management, complexity, innovation and customer satisfaction.
Smith College contracted BOND for renovations to an existing 220,000 s/f multi-building complex of within the Clark Science Complex. The project delivered via a design-build approach with R.E. Dinneen Architects was completed three months ahead of schedule. Programmatic Priorities of the project included infrastructure and code upgrades, and deferred maintenance.
All work was completed while the building remained occupied, and while protecting the sacred ground and the horticulture surrounding of the building. The project was a success for its planning and subsequent lack of intrusions into the research science community within the complex as well as its accelerated completion.
BOND, alongside Kyu Sung Woo Architects, received the Boston Society of Architect's Harleston Parker Medal for the team's successful completion of Harvard University's 10 Akron Street Residence Hall.Co-sponsored by the City of Boston, this annual honor seeks to recognize "the single most beautiful building or other structure" built in the metropolitan Boston area in the past 10 years.
The $54 million, project at included an 180,000 s/f cast-in-place concrete frame graduate student residence hall consists of two buildings. Protecting the integrity of a 100-year-old MWRA masonry sewer bisecting the site presented a challenge to multiple aspects of the construction process from excavation and earth support to logistics and mitigation. The project included a 63,000 s/f underground parking garage, residence hall containing 151 apartment-style units and specialty rooms include a fitness center, meeting and study rooms. It's regionally sourced siding, recycled content, bamboo flooring and wall paneling, low VOC finishes and low energy system have earned the project a LEED Gold certification.
