Bond Bros. begin expansion/renovation to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's Jimmy Fund Clinic

Bond Brothers have begun work on a comprehensive renovation of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's Jimmy Fund Clinic, located in the Longwood Medical area. The two-year renovation and expansion project will renew 19,500 s/f of clinic space serving pediatric cancer patients, increasing its capacity by 40%. The clinic's multi-phased renovations will result in improvements that will enhance pediatric cancer care for patients and families. Infusion and clinical areas will be expanded and improved to optimize flow and patient care. The waiting room will also be expanded and reconfigured to include play, quiet, and teen areas. Space adjacent to the clinic will remain occupied during construction, creating the need for strict infection control procedures. Renovations to the Jimmy Fund Clinic are currently underway, with completion of the project's last phase scheduled for December 2014. The project has been designed by Isgenuity to achieve USGBC's LEED Silver Certification. Since 1907, Bond has been the construction management firm for some of the New England's most high-profile vertical and horizontal construction projects. With two distinct groups, operating as construction managers for academic and healthcare clients, and self-performing general contractors for the power and energy industry. Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a principal teaching affiliate of the Harvard Medical School and is among the leading cancer research and care centers in the U.S. It is a founding member of the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center (DF/HCC), designated a comprehensive cancer center by the National Cancer Institute. It provides adult care with Brigham and Women's Hospital as Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center, and it provides pediatric care with Boston Children's Hospital as Dana-Farber/Children's Hospital Cancer Center. Dana-Farber is the top-ranked cancer center in New England, according to U.S. News & World Report, and one of the largest recipients among independent hospitals of National Cancer Institute and National Institutes of Health grant funding.
