Boston Properties, Inc., a real estate investment trust, said that The Prudential Tower is one of nine Boston Properties buildings in the region that have earned the Energy Star Award over the last 12 months. The Tower's recent designation means that 100% of the 2.6 million square feet of office space at Prudential Center is now Energy Star labeled. Boston Properties now has well over 3.8 million s/f of Energy Star labeled office space in the state, making it the largest owner of such real estate in New England.
"Achieving Energy Star at The Prudential Tower recognizes this building in the top 25% of facilities nationwide for energy performance. Constructing and operating energy efficient buildings is a key component of Boston Properties' ongoing sustainability strategy," said Bryan Koop, SVP and regional manager for the Boston Properties Boston portfolio.
Earning the Energy Star Award acknowledges The Prudential Tower and the team that supported it for months of energy studies, program implementation and monitoring.
"The Energy Star designation is a reflection of the energy efficiency and focus on sustainable operations in the Tower. We take particular pride in demonstrating that an office tower built in 1965 can still be maintained and operated to a standard that is top tier in energy performance relative to its more recently constructed peers in Boston. We have always been focused on energy efficiency," said Peter See, SVP of Property Management at Boston Properties.
