Brown Harris Stevens Conn. awards scholarships

Greenwich, CT Brown Harris Stevens Connecticut, in partnership with Person to Person, has named the inaugural recipients of the Brown Harris Stevens Scholarship Fund. Each year through an application process, 10 local Fairfield County students will receive $20,000 in funds to help them reach their higher education goals. The inaugural Brown Harris Stevens Scholars are pursuing degrees from engineering and math to psychology and childhood education.

“We want to congratulate all of the inaugural Brown Harris Stevens scholars on their hard-earned achievements. BHS is incredibly proud to offer our support to our local students as they continue their education journeys,” said Christopher Halstead, executive sales director, Brown Harris Stevens Connecticut. “None of this would have been possible without Person-to-Person for their partnership in launching the Brown Harris Stevens Scholarship Fund and for all the important work they do uplifting our communities.”

This scholarship makes college attainable for ten local talented and motivated students, and helps Person to Person reach our goal of offering close to 100 college scholarships each year. Meet the inaugural Brown Harris Stevens Scholars:

Christian De Souza - Greenwich, CT

Christian is a freshman at the University of Rhode Island and will be studying Psychology. During high school he worked as a laborer at Mr Pavers, LLC, played defensive line on Varsity Football, and was a student leader at AWANA.

Raphael Benjamin - Norwalk, CT

Raphael is a freshman at Rochester Institute of Technology and will be studying Robotics Engineering. During high school he was a member of the Boys Varsity Tennis Team, Robotics Club, and the Investment Club.

Alexandra Narcisse - Norwalk, CT

Alexandra is a freshman at The University of Connecticut and will be studying Biological Sciences. During high school, she was a part of the ASL club, Orchestra, Yearbook club, Latin club, and the L.O.V.E. club.

Kenneth Maeda  - Stamford, CT

Kenneth is a freshman at The University of Connecticut and will be studying Aerospace Engineering.

Angel Uchupailla - Stamford, CT

Angel is a freshman at The University of Connecticut and will be majoring in biology and minoring in business. During high school, he was a student ambassador for Future 5, and was in the Westhill Lacrosse team, Track and Field team, and Soccer team. He also has done more than 150 hours of community service with Person2Person.

Laysha Lucero - Stamford, CT

Laysha is a junior in the University of Connecticut and is majoring in Math. She has been on the Dean’s List and was a member of the Latin Club, Multicultural Club, and Data Analytics Club.

Shania Blake - Stamford, CT

Shania is a senior at the Southern Connecticut State University and is majoring in Early Childhood Education, and minoring in Psychology, Child, Family and Community Studies. She has been awarded the Segal Americorps Education award.

Three additional recipients from New Canaan, Norwalk and Stamford chose to remain anonymous.
