Designing Boston: Parochialism vs. Production

Boston, MA On January 30, BSA Space is hosting Parochialism vs. Production, a panel discussion focusing on how Boston’s municipal, building industry, and community leaders can work together to build housing that meets the needs of a growing population. The panelists, Boston City councilors Frank Baker, Tito Jackson, and Bill Linehan, will examine how new housing projects can meet unit goals across the city, including the small, historic scale of Boston neighborhoods, while optimizing construction costs. Moderated by Michael Ross, a former city council president, the ninth event in the ongoing Designing Boston series, will also unpack enduring issues such as tensions between policymakers and community members and challenges posed by codes, as it highlights successful examples of housing projects. Parochialism vs. Production will take place on January 30, 6:00–8:00 pm. This program is part of Designing Boston Series, a program supported by the BSA Foundation. It is free and open to the public but RVSP is recommended. More details and registration: http://www.architects.org/programs-and-events/designingboston-parochialism-vs-production.
