This forum will engage representatives from a diverse spectrum of the construction industry to explore the long-term industry effects connected to this dilemma.
The current and expected shortfall of skilled labor is resulting in companies
1) raising pay scales to attract skilled labor,
2) becoming more selective in the projects they pursue, and
3) creating an upward pressure on costs.
These actions are impacting everyone associated with the construction industry.
Key discussion issues will include:
• How to replenish the ranks of young people entering the industry
• Changing the perception of construction careers
• Immediate and long-term diagnosis
• What incentives can be offered to jump start the recovery
