Quincy, MA Callahan Construction Managers (Callahan) has launched the latest installment of its constructing communities initiative with Quincy High School. The partnership, which aims to inspire the next generation of engineers, architects and builders by providing invaluable real world experience, kicked off with site visits to two of the city’s new projects, Meriel Marina Bay and Crown Colony.

“Callahan considers it a privilege to have the opportunity to instill our passion for this industry within the next generation workforce,” said Patrick Callahan, president of Callahan.

As part of Quincy High School’s President’s Pathway initiative, Callahan will educate a group of 20-30 senior-level students about the engineering and construction industry through job shadowing, active site visits and hands-on interaction. The four Quincy High School classes involved with the program include carpentry, electrical tech, HVAC and metal fabrication.

“Quincy High School is thrilled to partner with Callahan in this program to further foster the development of our students,” said Keith Segella, executive director of career and technical education for Quincy Public Schools.

The recent visits, which served as the first of four sessions, provided an introduction to students on each of the properties under construction, along with the various types of work occurring on-site. Subsequent visits will provide comprehensive opportunities to apply skills on the job site and experience the various stages of construction first-hand.

Callahan has collaborated with Hines, the developer of Meriel Marina Bay, and The John Flatley Company, the developer of Crown Colony, to extend this vital opportunity to local students in the Quincy community. Located within Quincy’s thriving Marina Bay neighborhood, Meriel Marina Bay is a waterfront apartment project that will offer 352 apartment units with an exceptional collection of high quality finishes, services and amenities. Crown Colony, located on Crown Colony Dr., will also present a high-end living experience upon completion. The property will feature 492 apartment units with amenities that include clubhouse, tennis court and fitness center with yoga area.
