Cary of Integra Realty Resources honored as Appraisal Institute’s Volunteer of Distinction

Boston, MA David Cary Jr., MAI, was recognized as the Appraisal Institute’s May Volunteer of Distinction for Region IV.

The Appraisal Institute is the nation’s largest professional association of real estate appraisers; Region IV consists of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont, as well as the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Quebec. Cary is a member of the Massachusetts and Rhode Island chapter.

“David Cary has shown a great commitment to the Appraisal Institute,” said Appraisal Institute president Jim Amorin, MAI, SRA, AI-GRS. “We are proud to have volunteers like Dave who have dedicated themselves to the advancement of our organization, the valuation profession and their local communities.”

 Cary has served the Massachusetts and Rhode Island chapter as a member of the nominating committee in 2015 and 2013; a member of the board of directors in 2012; and chair of the social committee and chair of the nominating committee in 2010. He was president in 2009; vice president and regional representative from 2007-08; treasurer and chair of the finance committee in 2007. He was alternate regional representative and secretary in 2006. Cary was a member of the national young advisory council from 1998-99. He joined the Appraisal Institute in 1992, and received his MAI designation in 2002.

Cary is a second generation appraiser; his father is David L. Cary Sr., MAI.

Cary is the senior managing director of Integra Realty Resources, located in Boston, and has been in the valuation profession for 30 years. He received a bachelor’s degree in business economics from Brown University, located in Providence, R.I.

His volunteer activities have included volunteering at his church, the Greater Boston Food Bank and for the Natick, Mass. sports and school programs.

Cary and his wife have three children.
