The Connecticut Building Congress recently hosted Courtney Hendricson (Town of Farmington, director of economic development) and Tom Trutter (University of Connecticut Health Center, associate vice president, Facilities Development & Operations) at the UConn Health Center Cell & Genome building. Hendricson focused on Farmington's development efforts and the benefits to the community from the expansion and renovation plans for the UConn Health Center. Trutter provided a deeper insight into the plans for the Health Center.
Jackson Laboratories is moving from Maine to Farmington and both speakers pointed to this as a key indicator of the benefits the UConn Health Center will be in bringing new jobs to the state. These jobs range irom construction jobs to building the new structure to the other support companies and positions that will arise from having the company in Farmington.
George Mulvaney of Mulvaney Mechanical was honored for his long history and strong participation with the organization. In addition to his past presidency with CBC, he was part of the Industry Practices Committee, the body within CBC that created and maintains the Connecticut Construction Guidelines manual. The Congress is approaching its 60th year and is recognizing the members who have consistently contributed to making CBC what it is today.
A $5,000 check was presented to the CBC Scholarship Fund. CBC offers scholarships to graduating Connecticut high school students entering college-level programs in architecture, construction-related engineering, construction management, surveying, planning or other courses of study leading to associate, baccalaureate, or masters degrees in the construction field.

CBC's educational, networking and philanthropic programs encourage the growth of its members and the sustained progress of the industry.
