Chairmans Message: There’s strength in numbers

There is truth in the old adage, “there’s strength in numbers.” For ABC, numbers translate to more clout on Beacon Hill, better programs to address the shortage of qualified labor our member companies face and enhanced programming and networking opportunities.

The theme for this year’s drive is the Indy 500, because out goal is to reach 500 members. The membership drive is a team-based event, with 30+ participants from the Board of Directors, Membership Committee and ABC Members at large working to grow the organization by recruiting new members.

To help us reach 500, we’re offering incentives to both prospects and members who recruit new members. Any prospect who joins ABC will receive membership through December 2022. That means 15 months for the price of 12! A prospect joining ABC during the Membership Drive will also receive free labor from a staffing agency, $200 in equipment rentals, $200 towards trade classes at the Gould Construction Institute, $200 credit toward programming and events, and more.

Do you know a prospective member that would benefit from joining our association? Reach out to prospects you work with, know personally and trust, and who you think can benefit from ABC membership. The chapter will award a $100 Visa gift card to any member who gets a prospective member to join.

In just the last few months, ABC Massachusetts has graduated its first cohort of pre-apprentices with funding from a competitive grant, won a legal battle to stop a project labor agreement on a Braintree school project, and continues to successfully fight legislation that would harm our industry and the merit shop. With your help, we can reach our goal of 500 members and do even more to serve our companies’ needs.

To learn more about the membership drive, reach out to membership director Venus Williams.
