Worcester, MA September was big month for food lovers across the North East, with the completion of a new Table Talk Pie bakery and the start of a major distribution center for Goya Foods, both served up in Central Massachusetts by the design/build firm of RP Masiello Inc.
“Central Massachusetts is ideally located for companies that serve the major population centers in the North East, which is why it’s been a hub of manufacturing and distribution for decades,” said David Masiello, president of RP Masiello.
The latest Table Talk project in Worcester, is a combination corporate headquarters, bakery and distribution facility. Spanning 145,000 s/f, the building houses four pie production lines, with automated processes for mixing, shaping, baking, cooling, flash-freezing and packaging the iconic desert-size pies. Notable aspects of the project include heavy-grade utilities and an extensive corrosion-proof drainage system to handle the intensive cleaning regimen that maintains sanitary conditions for food preparation. When fully operating, the building will bake and package 30 million pies a year.
The new headquarters and bakery is the second building RP Masiello has built for Table Talk in Worcester and the 15th project done in collaboration with Chacharone Properties, the developer and owner of the Table Talk building. RP Masiello has been collaboratively developing commercial and industrial buildings with Chacharone Properties since 1984.
Days after completing the Table Talk project, the Masiello team began work on a new 130,000 s/f distribution center for Goya Foods. Located in Webster, Mass., the new facility will be a bulk distribution center with room-temperature and freezer storage sections for many of Goya’s products. Slated to open in 2022, the distribution center will be the sixth building RP Masiello has constructed for Goya Foods since 1989.
