Christian Joins DLA Piper's R.E. Practice Group as a partner

Joseph Christian has joined DLA Piper's Real Estate practice group as a partner in its Boston office.  Christian was formerly a partner and chair of the real estate capital management group at WilmerHale.
Christian's practice focuses on commercial real estate, with a particular emphasis on real estate capital markets transactions. He has experience with the acquisition, management and disposition of real estate assets in all major markets, domestically as well as overseas.  
"Joe is a highly respected real estate lawyer advising investors and developers in major capital markets transactions both in the U.S. and in the rapidly emerging Asian markets," said Jay Epstien, chair of the U.S. Real Estate practice group.  
Christian is a member of the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA) and Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate (AFIRE).  He is also on the International Board of Advisors to United Planet, a leading international, educational, humanitarian, and peace-building non-profit organization with members and volunteers in over 150 countries. Christian represents United Planet on a pro bono basis, assisting them with their mission to foster cross-cultural understanding and support communities in need.
He earned a B.A, cum laude, from Catholic University of America and a J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law.  Before attending law school, he worked as an urban planner at the New York City Planning Commission.
