Coates of Building Technology Engineers named the 2011 Executive Engineer of the Year by BOMA Boston

Thomas Coates, regional director of asset services at Building Technology Engineers (BTE), has been named the 2011 Executive Engineer of the Year by the Boston Chapter of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA). This honor was part of the annual BOMA Awards program, which recognizes the best buildings and real estate managers and service providers in the Greater Boston area.

He has been in the forefront of a number of important sustainability initiatives, managing the LEED application process for several buildings and implementing a LEED training program for BTE staff and clients. He has been a strong supporter of BOMA Boston, sitting on the organization's board, serving as chair of its engineering committee and serving as an instructor for engineering courses. He is an active member of the National Fire Protection Association and the Association of Facilities Engineering.
