Condominium professionals seek resources & support

April 30, 2009 - Owners Developers & Managers

Jared McNabb, Crowninshield Management

With looming foreclosures, unpaid condominium fees and assessments, bank declination of loans and more burdensome regulations and requirements being placed on associations and required from the professionals who manage them, these past few months have clearly been some of the most challenging times the industry has faced. Compound that with the every changing needs and demands of homeowners along with different interpretations of often times unclear condominium documents and state laws as well as questionable court rulings and proposed statutes, and condominium management and clear decision making become a moving target.
CAI members and Condo Media readers turn to the chapter and its many resources that provide the most current and updated industry information in an ever changing environment. As is evidenced by an increase in attendance at programs like "Managing in Troubled Financial Times" and "Understanding the New Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac Guidelines" as well as the increase in the number of calls to the chapter office and visits to the chapter website requesting member and advertiser referrals, printed publications and other resources, CAINE continues to be "The Recognized Voice for New England Condominiums".
Today's association boards and members can find themselves struggling with perplexing association issues including smoking, special assessments and sex offenders, CAI addresses these in many of its chapter publications and seminars to help associations better understand all sides of these often debated concerns. And the chapter continues to keep New England industry professionals and associations informed of the many new legal requirements that may affect them like the most recent data security regulations that become effective on January 1, 2010 and that will impact the way associations and management companies do business.
CAI and the New England Chapter will continue to support our members and readers by providing the information and resources today's associations and professionals need. For more information about CAI resources or for a complete list of upcoming programs and answers to commonly asked questions, visit the chapter website www.caine.org or call the chapter office at 781-237-9020.
