Attleboro, MA Sturdy Health celebrated its new Sturdy Health Cancer & Specialty Care medical office building during a ceremonial groundbreaking. The multi-year construction project marks a milestone in their strategic plan, and serves as a substantial investment in the community.

The Sturdy Health Cancer & Specialty Care Medical Office Building was designed with optimum patient and care team experience in mind. This three story, 60,000 s/f facility represents a $50 million investment in the overall health and wellness of those they serve. This aligns with Sturdy Health’s multi-year strategic master space plan initiative to expand its footprint for greater care access, to transform its facilities and the experience provided to its patients and care team members.

Leading the construction efforts is Consigli Construction Co., Inc. in collaboration with Sturdy Health and Redgate, serving as owner’s representative. Redgate is leading the planning, permitting, and overall project delivery strategy. Rounding out the project team is a recognized leader in the architectural and design space, NBBJ, headquartered in Boston.

The new Sturdy Health Cancer & Specialty Care Office Building will house a number of specialty services, including, cardiology, gastrointestinal, general surgery, oncology, pain management, and urology. It will deliver a comprehensive care experience for oncology patients by uniting the infusion center currently located in Sturdy Memorial Hospital.

“For over 110 years, Sturdy Health has dedicated itself to providing exceptional care, exceptionally close to those we serve,” said Aimee Brewer, president and chief executive officer of Sturdy Health. “As we look to continue this legacy, we envisioned our next bold steps forward in fortifying a health system that would continue providing the quality of health care our community deserves in the years ahead.”

Joining in this morning’s celebratory milestone were City of Attleboro mayor Cathleen DeSimone, senator Paul Feeney, Representative Jay Barrows, Representative James Hawkins and district director for Congressman Jake Auchincloss Dana Hanson.

“The significance of this transformative project for Sturdy Health, the City of Attleboro and the community is one that we are extremely proud to be a part of,” said Anthony Consigli, chief executive officer of Consigli Construction Co., Inc. “Together, we are constructing more than a facility; we are creating a space that fosters compassionate care for a stronger, healthier community.”

“It’s for our patients that we dreamt of a beautiful, hope-filled space where they could receive multi-disciplinary, integrated, and seamless cancer care under one roof,” said Asma Latif, director of Breast Oncology at Sturdy Health, during this morning’s ceremony. “Today, we lay the foundation for that vision. This new building will strengthen our cancer program in every way, uniting not only our outpatient practice and infusion program, but a breadth of support services and specialties as well. And while we’re thrilled to offer this comprehensive care to our patients, we’ll continue to pride ourselves in maintaining that personal touch.”

“The Redgate team is honored to partner with Sturdy Health on this project, ensuring that the hospital can continue to provide high-quality, cost-efficient care to its patients and the surrounding community,” said Kristi Dowd, executive vice president, Institutional Services of Redgate.

Contemporary features and finishes, coupled with advanced care delivery space design, will allow Sturdy Health to provide comprehensive services all within one space. The new medical office building is just another way that Sturdy Health is reaffirming its commitment to the community in forging a brighter future, together.
