Construction begins on 23,644 s/f Circuit City at Westgate Mall
According to Mark Shair, president of M&J Associates, Dedham, the construction has begun on Circuit City at Westgate Mall.
The store will be 23,644 s/f on a site of 5.5 acres. It is directly opposite the primary mall entrance. The site is located at 395 Westgate Dr., which is the "ring-road" surrounding the Mall. Westgate Mall is a 700,000 s/f regional mall. Showcase Cinema will be under construction shortly with a 2,600 s/f seat cinema complex.
The Circuit City store was originally Office Max that was constructed 16 years ago. The re-construction will involve a new façade and a total rehab of the interior. An August opening is planned.
In addition to Circuit City there are 7,000 s/f of existing adjacent stores. A further expansion of 7,000 s/f is possible, as well as an out-parcel facing Westgate Dr.
According to Shair, "This was an interesting deal in that I did the Office Max deal 16 years ago and now the Circuit City replacement.
