Cowles of HMFH Architects named Ambassador of the Year

HMFH Architects, a leading architectural firm focused on the design of innovative learning environments, congratulates principal Lori Cowles, AIA, LEED AP on being named Ambassador of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce. Cowles was recognized at the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce's (CCC) annual Excellence in Business Awards on June 3rd. Over 300 business representatives gathered to celebrate the achievements and community involvement by Cambridge-area businesses and individuals. The Ambassador of the Year award recognizes a member of the CCC Ambassador Committee who distinguishes himself or herself as an invaluable asset to the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce. "Lori Cowles epitomizes the dedicated spirit of community in Cambridge," said Kelly Thompson Clark, president and chief executive officer of the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce. "This award recognizes her tireless efforts and involvement on behalf of the chamber. Lori works hard to connect people and ideas, making the city of Cambridge a better place to live, work and visit." The Ambassador Committee is the largest committee at the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce. The Ambassadors assist with new member recruitment, ensure that existing members are getting the most from their Chamber investment, and serve as mentors for new or prospective members. They represent the CCC at Chamber events, as well as within the community. The Ambassador of the Year is selected by his or her fellow Ambassadors. "The Chamber does so much to strengthen the community where we work and live," said Cowles. "With more than 1,500 members from diverse backgrounds representing more than 100,000 employees in Cambridge, it has been inspiring to see and make connections between Chamber members and the needs in our community. I am proud to serve in this important mission." Lori is a registered architect and LEED Accredited Professional with more than 15 years of professional experience. She joined HMFH Architects in 1995 and has been project manager for many of the firm's civic and educational projects, including Temple Place Affordable Housing, a joint venture between Cambridge Affordable Housing Trust and the YWCA and several schools for the cities of Somerville and Medford. Lori earned a cachelor of Arts and cachelor of Science degrees from Framingham State College, as well as a cachelor of Architecture degree from Boston Architectural College.
