CRE Summer Solstice Social Networking event

July 11, 2013 - Appraisal & Consulting

Jill Hatton, CRE

Members of the New England Chapter of the Counselors of Real Estate recently gathered for a Summer Solstice Social Networking event at the Harpoon Brewery Beer Hall in South Boston. The opportunity to meet and share experiences and information is one of the key benefits to membership in the global CRE organization. In addition to access to a network of highly skilled real estate professionals, some of the key membership benefits include access to thought provoking National Meetings, CRE Publications and Strategic Alliances within the real estate industry and global marketplace.
Membership in The Counselors of Real Estate is extended on an invitation-only basis.
To be invited, prospective members must be recognized by their peers, clients and employers, for their outstanding professional achievement, impeccable judgment, and commitment to integrity in the field of real estate counseling. Counseling is the process of providing objective, knowledgeable, and trusted advice or guidance on real estate decision making for a client or employer.
Counselors have a wide array of professional backgrounds-from valuation to development. They serve different client groups-from government agencies to individual property owners - and provide a breadth of services ranging from financing and capital formation to sustainability and "green" planning. Regardless of their experience, firm type, or client base, all Counselors provide sound solutions for complex real estate matters.
Following are criteria for consideration for invitation to membership in the Counselors of Real Estate:
Applicants must show evidence that they provide meaningful professional real estate counseling services, and that their counsel is sought and valued by clients or employers in the making of significant real estate decisions.
Applicants may counsel only one or a limited number of clients depending on the size and nature of the account(s). An individual providing real estate counseling to an employer may be considered for membership if the counseling services rendered to that organization are of a nature, quality and type that would be provided by an independent real estate counselor.
Applicants must hold a senior position in the firm or company where they serve as an employee or partner. There is no requirement that the applicant be an owner or a principal.
Applicants must be recognized for excellence as an advisor in their respective field or fields of expertise.
Applicants must be highly regarded for integrity, judgment, and knowledge.
Applicants must have practical experience in the real estate field for at least 10 years, three of which must be in real estate counseling. Graduate academic credentials in real estate or a related field may be considered a viable alternative for up to one year of real estate experience.
Applicants must agree to hold some form of membership in the National Association of Realtors. Board membership, however, is not required. There are provisions for an Institute Affiliate membership at a nominal fee.
Individuals are considered for membership twice annually. For more information, prospective members who wish to be considered by the CRE Invitation Committee can contact Jill Hatton at [email protected] or review additional details at www.cre.org/aboutmembership.
