Cummings Properties appoints Carlson as leasing director

Cummings Properties has appointed Boston resident Lars Carlson to the position of leasing director. Carlson has assumed a newly added position at the commercial real estate firm, which has seen continued growth in recent years despite the struggling economy. "Cummings has remained strong in the face of a down market, and continues to set challenging goals for itself," leasing manager Erica Wright said. "Lars' knowledge and experience will help us reach our ambitious leasing objectives during the next year and beyond." Carlson holds a bachelor's degree from Hobart College in Geneva, N.Y. He gained his initial experience in commercial real estate at the Massachusetts Office of Business Development. For Carlson, the transition to Cummings Properties presents the opportunity to work with an industry leader, and allows him to focus on the entrepreneurial side of commercial real estate that has gained his preference over the years. Carlson accepted to his first leasing position with Maynard-based Wellesley Management, where he spent five years working mainly with technical startups. Subsequently, he served as director of leasing for the Mayo Group, a commercial and residential real estate firm headquartered in South Boston. "With the rich spirit of innovation in Massachusetts, I was anxious to work for an industry innovator," Carlson said. "Cummings Properties was founded by a serial entrepreneur, and has a long history of providing space for life science companies, technical startups, and other innovative sectors." Among Cummings Properties' recent endeavors that cater to entrepreneurs are its Launch coworking space at TradeCenter 128, and its newest Emerging Technology Center in West Cummings Park, which houses incubator laboratories for early stage firms. The sites, both located in Woburn, are an echo of similar pro-entrepreneurial ventures by the firm within the surrounding communities. Cummings Properties is a full-service development, property management, and construction firm with 10 million square feet of commercial real estate in 10 eastern Massachusetts communities. Its more than 2,000 clients lease prime commercial space for a variety of uses, including executive offices, medical practices, and research laboratories.
