Woburn, MA Alloplex Biotherapeutics is relocating from an incubator at SmartLabs in Cambridge to a 4,700 s/f facility at TradeCenter 128 (TC128). The cellular therapeutics company is expected to move in September to the Cummings Properties-managed campus.

Founded by Harvard-trained immunologist Frank Borriello, M.D., Ph.D., Alloplex aims to develop an individualized cellular therapy to treat cancer. The first in-human clinical trial is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2020 and will enroll cancer patients with measurable disease, irrespective of tumor type.

 

 

“I’m delighted about the prospect of moving into a bright, modern space that can accommodate the next phase of growth for Alloplex,” said Dr. Borriello. “Working with the Cummings Properties staff was smooth, and customized modifications to the lab and office space were easy to incorporate.”

Senior leasing director Rob Yacobian of Cummings Properties worked with managing director Peter Bekarian of Jones Lang LaSalle on the lease.

“Given the increasing demand and dwindling supply of lab space in the northern suburbs, Dr. Borriello was wise to take advantage of the availability of additional square feet at this location,” said Yacobian.

“The substantial cost savings achieved by moving from Cambridge to Woburn is enabling me to put more funds toward expanding my operation and advancing the science,” said Dr. Borriello. “As a Winchester resident, I also value the quick and easy commute since time is the ultimate limited resource.” 

The campus fronts I-95 and is one mile from the I-93 interchange. Several other life science firms, including Quest Diagnostics, OpGen, Batavia Biosciences, and Sophion Biosciences–lease space at this property.
