Dacon will construct a new 32,000 s/f office and manufacturing facility for Greentown Labs. Dacon will be providing design/build mechanical service, fire protection and electrical engineering in the space, which will be built in the former Ames Safety Envelope Plant at 28 Dane St.
The project manager was Salvatore Barba, VP project management and the project superintendent was Michael Davis.
The project team included Silverman Trykowski Associates, Inc. and Urban Neighborhood Design Alliance (UNDA).
Greentown Lab's move is interesting as the company is actually moving out of Boston's Innovation District to a space better suited for their specific needs. The high ceilings and loading docks required by Greentown's clients are becoming harder to find in a city that's increasingly dedicating itself to technology. Greentown Labs provides prototyping space, a machine shop, an electronics lab and other facilities to its tenants.
Dacon is working closely with Greentown to ensure that the new facility meets their growing needs. Greentown currently rents space to 28 different start-ups, consulting firms and nonprofits involved in the energy field and will be able to accommodate a large portion of its waiting list with the new facility.
