Delphi Construction partnered with South Shore Veterans Assistance Inc. to provide a new roof

Waltham, MA Delphi Construction partnered with South Shore Veterans Assistance Inc. to provide a new roof for one veteran served by the Hanson based charitable organization.

Mark Adams, secretary of South Shore Veterans Assistance, Inc. worked with the veteran and his family while putting the project together.

“This project served a real and immediate need. The recipient of the new roof is a veteran of the Korean War who served as an Air Force Radio Operator during that conflict. Like most veterans, he returned to the states, married and started a family. He worked as an electronics engineer until his retirement 17 years ago. He and his wife faced a number of challenges along the way including the birth of a child with special needs and a personal health event many years ago which left him with partial debilitation. As a proud, resilient veteran it required some coaxing for him to even accept our offer to help replace the 26 year old roof which had been leaking for a number of years. We are grateful we ultimately got the opportunity to help.”

Dave Andrews, treasurer of the all-volunteer group whose mission is to “empower and assist veterans in need” provided more background on the organization and commented on Delphi’s donation.

“Our aim is to work locally to make a difference in the lives of those who have served.  This may mean offering financial assistance, helping with handicap accessibility or providing food, clothing and other basic needs to veterans in need. As a small group of less than 50 volunteers funded by private donations, our budget is often smaller than the scope of work we would like to do. Delphi’s generous donation made it possible to deliver a significant, much needed construction project with no cost to the veteran homeowner or to the organization,” Andrews said.

Jake Simmons, CEO of Delphi Construction expressed his appreciation for the work of South Shore Veterans Assistance and the opportunity to partner with them.

“This is an outstanding organization doing great work for our local veterans. We are happy to play a small part in helping them to make a difference in the lives of those who have served,” said Simmons.
