Dhanda completes development of $14 million, 5-story 1075 Mass. Ave. mixed-use project

Six months ago 1075 Mass. Ave. in Harvard Sq. consisted of dirt, concrete and steel beams. But by Labor Day, developer Raj Dhanda had changed the site into a 5-story 33,648 s/f residential and retail building at the intersection of Mass. Ave. and Mount Auburn St. The 20 residential units featuring sub-zero refrigerators, Viking stoves, Bosch dishwashers, Lutron light controls and automatic shades have been sold. The building also features two affordable units. The lobby has a chandelier by one of Europe's best-known designers. A roof top garden features deck and custom made benches made of Ipe, a Brazilian wood with embedded led lighting. Two of the four ground floor retail units have been leased to Neenas Lighting and Kartell Furniture. Dhanda was involved in every aspect of the project: permitting, neighborhood meetings, construction, finishes, colors and tenant selection. The contractor was Callahan Const., the architect was Peter Quinn Architects and the building owner is Sundance at Harvard Holdings LLC. The total project cost, including acquisition, construction and soft cost, was $14 million.
