Weymouth, MA DJSA Architecture PC, a full-service architectural firm specializing in commercial and corporate design, is the architect for an adaptive reuse project at 125 Broad St., the site of the former Colonial Adult Day Care Health Center. DJSA was selected by multi-disciplinary real estate investment firm Sawyer Realty Partners. The project is currently under construction with Miano Construction Corp., of Danvers, MA serving as the general contractor. The project is scheduled for completion in August 2023.

The existing three-story, 77,000 s/f building, built in 1963, is being fully renovated into an 80-unit apartment complex, complete with an exterior courtyard, amenity space, and ample parking.

DJSA is working with the team of Crocker Design Group, LLC of Hingham as surveyor and permitting guide. Drohan Tocchio & Morgan PC of Hingham is the law firm of record for the project. BER Engineering of Easton is serving as the MEP/FP consultant on the project.

Jessica Rosenberg, principal at Sawyer Realty Partners, explained that this is her firm’s first major adaptive reuse development, with ground-breaking anticipated for later this spring and project construction completed and ready for lease-up some time in Q4 2023. “We’ve had a phenomenal experience with DJSA because of their attention to detail and ownership mentality even as a third-party contractor,” Rosenberg said. “We have already engaged them on several other projects – both adaptive reuse and new construction – and we look forward to working with them in the future.”

Dennis Swart, AIA, president of DJSA Architecture PC, said, “We’re pleased to work with Sawyer Realty Partners on this exciting project, one that will transform a near 60-year-old building into a modern attractive apartment complex. We’re proud that Sawyer entrusted us and our design partners with this important adaptive reuse undertaking.”
