E.S. Bolous Co.'s utility division awarded new CMP 115KV green field substation

February 02, 2012 - Northern New England
E.S. Boulos Company (ESB) has been awarded and is underway with the new CMP 115KV green field substation project. ESB is serving as the prime EPC contractor in the Maine Power Reliability Program project.
The substation is being built with three incoming 115KV OH lines in a ring bus configuration. The initial ring bus layout will be designed to allow for future expansion to a full breaker and a half scheme. A total of three 115KV general-purpose breakers will be used to segregate the three line terminals. Two 18 MVAR capacitor banks will be connected to the ring bus and controlled with a zero crossing breaker and circuit switchers.
TRC will be ESB's engineering and commissioning subcontractor on this project. Site construction began in November and project completion is slated for November 2012. At peak construction, project manager Scott Marquis will head ESB's field crew of 16 electricians and linemen from IBEW Locals 567 and 104.
