ECO Logic hired by Fitchburg State University to prepare campus buildings for response to COVID-19 Pandemic

April 07, 2020 - Front Section

Fitchburg, MA ECO Logic Ltd., a company that maintains textiles and flooring for commercial clients using environmentally friendly solutions, was hired by Fitchburg State University to sanitize and disinfect 460,000 s/f across multiple buildings on campus, including dormitories, in preparation to assist  the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. While the specific use for these facilities is not available at this time, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts requested they be readied in case of future need.

“As our campus community has transitioned to a remote learning model for the remainder of the spring 2020 semester, we are happy to collaborate with state agencies in making spaces available on campus - if needed - to help respond to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Fitchburg State University president Richard Lapidus.

Since March 11th ECO Logic has sanitized and disinfected over 2.5 million s/f of space to help in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. ECO Logic has been fielding calls from offices, universities and retail spaces about these services and teams have been in the field continuously to meet the demand.

“We want our clients to know that we are here to help them as they navigate what has become the new normal for businesses all over the country,” said Brett van Beever, president of ECO Logic.  “We have been providing these services for over 10 years and have a dedicated staff of technicians who are trained to disinfect and sanitize workspaces.”

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) maintains a list of products (List N) that meet the agency’s criteria for use against SARS-CoV-2, the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19. Using electrostatic sprayers and fogging equipment along with Vital Oxide, a hospital-grade disinfectant that is included on the EPA’s List N, ECO Logic has helped allay fears that spaces may have become contaminated by coronavirus.

By definition,  the electrostatic process allows for highly charged, almost “magnetized” molecules of disinfectant to seek out and cling to surfaces, allowing much more even and efficient use of the disinfectant. More reaches the targeted surfaces than using an ordinary sprayer and hand wipe system.  The charged spray provides broad spectrum coverage, in addition the charged mist also penetrates cracks and crannies as it is naturally drawn to uncoated surfaces.

“We believe that services such as this will continue to be an important part of the cleaning regimen for offices and buildings moving forward,” said Van Beever.  “People are more aware now of their space and how they interact with it.  We believe that providing employees with much needed peace of mind will be important, and what better way than to disinfect, sanitize, and keep the carpet and upholstery clean as well.”

Pricing is based on gross square footage of the location, and anyone interested in learning about the infection control service options should reach out to ECO Logic at 617-666-4000. The company is scheduling services into May.
