Erland Const. honored with ABC Excellence in Construction Award

the day after a devastating tornado hit its campus Springfield College contacted Erland Construction to repair the damage. That day Erland was on site assessing the destruction and developing plans to restore the facilities. The work Erland performed over the summer of 2011 for Springfield College has been honored with an Associated Builders and Contractors of Massachusetts Excellence in Construction Eagle Award. Standing out as the most deserving in the Renovation category, this project was recognized for its exemplary attention to detail, teamwork, and dedication to excellence. On November 15, 2012 the project team - with representatives from Springfield College and Erland Construction - gathered at the annual ABC awards dinner to accept this prestigious honor. Springfield College president Richard Flynn said of Erland's work, "Erland's staff was on campus within 24 hours [after the tornado], and within the week they had begun work to repair and restore damaged facilities. Renovations to three of our residence halls...were extensive, yet all were ready for occupancy for the fall semester. They were unbelievably helpful. To this day, people are amazed at what was accomplished in such a short time, and the final results were outstanding." Erland repaired four buildings that were extensively damaged during the storm - installing new windows, metal panel facades, roofs, glass storefronts and interior doors, ceilings, flooring, light fixtures, and furniture. A project of this magnitude would typically call for a 30-week schedule, but Erland's team worked diligently to complete the work by August 26th, in time for students to return to campus for the new academic year.
