Erland Construction launches collaborative lab & cGMP-focused service geared towards life science

Burlington, MA Erland Construction has launched a new collaborative lab and cGMP-focused service geared towards life science clients. The industry’s increasing demand for flexible lab and support space prompted the firm to formalize this model, according to Chuck Vaciliou, Erland senior vice president & advanced technology/life sciences group manager. “We want clients to know they can reach out to us early on to assist with the programming and visioning for their cutting-edge facility,” he said. “Erland’s dedicated team of experts ensure that the client’s concept can be brought to successful reality. Our goal is to help them determine the best path forward and ensure every decision they’re making is the right one.”

One of the Northeast’s leading open shop construction management firms, Erland Construction has built landmark life science facilities since its founding in 1977. Two of their most recent and notable projects include a 149,000 s/f office and lab building for biopharmaceutical giant EMD Serono and a nine-story office and lab building for Boston-based real estate developer Boylston Properties. Construction for both projects combined totaling over $122 million.

The new service provides turnkey solutions to complex building requirements and sets a project up for success by learning a client’s current and future needs and procuring the people and the products to make it happen. CoLab Solutions is led by Gregg Conboy, lab development manager, and Jay Sturdivant, project executive.

The pair collectively have over sixty years of experience in the construction industry and are currently spearheading the construction efforts for both the EMD Serono and Boylston Properties projects.

“This initiative enhances the outstanding project delivery systems we are known for,” Vaciliou said. “It will greatly add to the services and value we bring to our clients.”

Over the past 44 years, Erland Construction has successfully grown into the Northeast’s leading open shop construction management firm. The Company is headquartered in Burlington, Massachusetts and has specialized expertise for new construction and renovations in major market sectors including life sciences, academic, corporate, commercial, advanced technology, residential, senior living, and hospitality.
