Fort Point Project Management oversee relocation of 80 staff and faculty members for Wellesley College

Fort Point Project Management (Fort Point PM) provided Wellesley College with project management services to oversee the relocation of 80 staff and faculty enabling the renovation of Green Hall and Schneider Hall over the summer. Fort Point PM's ability to quickly assess the scope and accommodate faculty needs was critical to a smooth transition into temporary space.
Partnering on the move with Fort Point PM and Wellesley College was Sterling Movers, the largest non-union source for office and commercial moving and installation in New England.
Not only was the move constrained by time, but it took place while school was in session. Wellesley College needed the relocation project to be completed in order to begin summer construction projects in June.
This project also presented an opportunity for Wellesley College to give back to the community. Through Fort Point PM's affiliation with The Furniture Trust, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to reinvesting unwanted office furnishings back into the community, three truckloads of excess furniture removed from Wellesley College during their renovations were donated to area schools and non-profits. For example, student seating was repurposed at Cristo Ray Boston High School in Dorchester.
"This project was truly a collaborative effort," said Steve Fox, co-founder of Fort Point PM. "We are proud to have worked with such a prestigious institution like Wellesley College to make their staff relocation efforts as smooth as possible."
"We were able to connect multiple organizations in the community with excess furniture from Wellesley College," said Margaret Carels of The Furniture Trust. "We are grateful to Wellesley College for their donation as a socially and environmentally responsible alternative to the disposal of office furniture."
