The Town of Greenwich offers beautiful homes, quality schools and endless recreational and cultural opportunities. Greenwich has been named one of the best places to live by several media outlets, including CNN and Money Magazine. Located just 40 minutes outside of New York City, many major businesses have found the town an attractive place to settle. Many commuters, who enjoy easy access to I-95, a major commuter rail system, and several airports, have also settled in town, creating a perfect consumer base to support high-end stores, small businesses and the financial services industry.
Large businesses located in town include: Greenwich Hospital; Blyth, Inc., the nation's largest candle maker; and Blue Sky Studios, the animation studio that created Ice Age, among other famous movies. The town has also attracted a solid financial services sector including a wide variety of banks, investment firms, hedge funds and venture capital firms. In addition, a large number of non-profit and community organizations are actively supported by residents and businesses through ongoing fundraisers and awareness campaigns.
Positioned near a beautiful shoreline and ample open space, the outdoor recreational opportunities for Greenwich residents are endless. The town owns and operates the 18-hole Griffith E. Harris golf course, the Dorothy Hamill Skating Rink, a skate park, and the public beaches. Other cultural attractions, such as the Bruce Museum and the Greenwich Symphony Orchestra, provide opportunities for those looking for an educational, yet fun, experience.
Each neighborhood within the town's fifty-mile radius offers quality amenities in a small town atmosphere. Greenwich Ave., located in the central part of town, is home to a wide variety of stores, including small boutiques, name brand stores, local pharmacies and hardware stores. This commercial corridor is also home to top-rated restaurants, office space and residential areas. The village of Old Greenwich is filled with local stores in a pedestrian-friendly atmosphere. The Byram neighborhood, located near lovely park and beach options, has an old world, family-friendly atmosphere. Cos Cob is a close-knit community, characterized by its historical shipping background. Riverside, while largely residential, has many small shops and dining options. Smaller enclaves of Greenwich, such as Banksville, Chickahominy, North Mianus, Pemberwick, and Round Hill, also have their own distinct business environments.
Whether you are looking for your own commuter haven, trying to find an active place to retire or seeking to build a business, Greenwich offers everything you need.

Marcia O'Kane is president and chief executive officer of the Greenwich Chamber of Commerce and Peter Tesei is first selectman for the Town of Greenwich.
