Grubb & Ellis Company, has represented Acme Packet in a long-term lease of 125,000 s/f of office and engineering space at 100 Crosby Dr.
The lease represents an expansion for the global communications technology company. Much of the recent growth is due to its acquisition of Covergence, a provider of software-based session border controllers, which better equips Acme Packet to serve the needs of enterprise small offices and remote sites.
"We quickly outgrew our Burlington facilities after consolidating Covergence's operations into ours," said Andy Ory, chief executive officer and president of Acme Packet. "We are very pleased to have solidified our long-term growth plans right here in Massachusetts. It was extraordinarily important that we chose a new headquarters close to our people, who are the brainpower behind the company."
Acme is relocating from two locations in Burlington totaling approximately 75,000 square feet of space. The new lease also includes an expansion option, which, if exercised, would bring the total space to 145,000 square feet - the entire east tower of the property.
Formerly leased to IBM Corporation, 100 Crosby Drive is a 261,900 s/f building on 50 acres.
Bradford Spencer, senior vice president, Industrial Group, facilitated the transaction.
John Wilson, a partner at Richards Barry Joyce & Partners represented the landlord, San Francisco-based Divco West Real Estate Services.
