Hamilton Construction Management Corporation completes 1,500 s/f MauraLinh Spa

Boston, MA Vietnamese immigrant Linh Nguyen’s dream of owning her own full-service nail salon and spa has become a reality – thanks to her hard work and some timely advice and support from a longtime customer, Maura Nolan Brown, who is now her partner.

The MauraLinh Spa is located at 1085 Commonwealth Ave. on the Allston/Brookline line at Packard’s Corner.

Constructed and designed by Hamilton Construction Management Corp. (HCMC), the new, 1,500 s/f facility provides services from nails to waxing to facials. All services are provided in the spa’s, brand-new space adjacent to the Commonwealth Sports Club.

Linh said, “I worked at the same salon for 13 years, through four different owners, but I was always dreaming that one day I would have my own salon.” One of her customers was Brown, who would turn that dream into a reality.

According to HCMC president Steve Weinig and architect Samara Tilkin, the facility was built to comply fully with the new Boston Public Health Commission environmental requirements for clean air and the disinfecting of all instruments used in the spa.

Complying with the new code required the installation of mechanical ventilation equipment directly at the work surface to “source capture” unhealthy fumes and dust. The equipment included downdraft filter/fans for the manicure stations and exhaust inlets for the pedicure stations with all ductwork elegantly concealed within the salon furniture. An autoclave is used to disinfect the salon instruments similar to the sterilization process used in dentist offices or laboratories.

This may seem self-serving, and I’ll be the first to admit it. But unlike some of the artificial intelligence tools now reshaping our industry, I am fully aware of my own bias. So, hear me out. The rise of AI in commercial real estate is not a distant threat or a speculative headline.
