Architects Herbert Newman and Partners received a 2007 AIA Conn. Award for its design of the Hobart and William Smith Colleges new residence halls. Herbert Newman and Partners was the design architect and SWBR Architects, was the architect of record for the residence halls.
The two residence halls, North Residence Hall and de Cordova Hall, join two existing buildings to form a new landscaped residential quadrangle.
Peter Newman, principal-in-charge said, "By placing the two residences halls opposite each other, we created a pedestrian court that encourages a dialogue between the buildings and the residents."
