There were several individual awards given during the evening including the President's Award which goes to someone within the chapter that has gone over and beyond the call of duty as a member, volunteer and industry colleague. This year's recipient was Joy Shapiro of Diversified Project Management. Other individual awards included the Exemplary End User award given to Chris Gilman, CFM of EInk and the Exemplary Service Provider award going to James Koloski of RDK Engineers. The Best Practice awards recognize individuals, projects and/or processes in three different categories: Small, Medium and Large. This year's award recipients included private and public facilities—all exhibiting excellence in their facilities. The Best Practice: Small Project award went to Manulife/John Hancock for their South Boston operations center. The Best Practice: Medium Project award went to two recipients—EMD Serono in Billerica, nominated by Jones Lang LaSalle and to the Museum of Fine Arts, nominated by Acentech. The Best Practice: Large Project award winner this year was Ropes & Gray with their large scale relocation to the Prudential Tower and was nominated by Structure Tone.
The chapter recognizes excellence in sustainability each year with two awards. This year's recipient of the Best Practice: Sustainability Existing LEED Principles went to Biogen Idec, nominated by NELSON Black Cow. The second award for Best Practice: Sustainability Practices went to TIAA-CREF at 99 High St. and was nominated by Jones Lang LaSalle.
We encourage everyone to start preparing their awards submissions for the 9th Annual Awards of Excellence event to take place next May!
