IFMA Boston: Let’s look back at where we’ve been in 2023

December 08, 2023 - Owners Developers & Managers
IFMA Boston and IFMA NYC mingling at Tamayo in Denver for IFMA World Workplace.

Boston, MA It’s been a busy fall for IFMA Boston and before we head into the second half of our program year, let’s look back at where we’ve been.

We started the year in August with a member only pop-up at Not Your Average Joe’s in Waltham where our members networked while enjoying cocktails and small bites. Our Pop Ups are a great way to meet other members in a casual relaxed atmosphere. With six pop ups planned every year in a variety of locations, we are sure to pop up in your neighborhood soon!

In September our members traveled to Denver to attend IFMA World Workplace which brings together workplace professionals to discover innovative FM technologies, build relationships and sharpen essential skills. Our chapter held the first annual joint welcome reception with IFMA New York City at Tamayo and the evening was a great success. We look forward to further building this relationship with a quarterly connection between chapters.

We celebrated the end of summer at The Reel House in Quincy as we held our South Shore pop up in mid-September overlooking Boston Harbor. The setting was perfect, and everyone lingered long into the night making new connections and enjoying the view of Boston.

The Hub Office Installations team had the lowest score
of the day at Granite Links in Quincy at our Fall Golf Classic.

On Monday October 2nd we held our first Fall Golf Classic at Granite Links in Quincy along with a Golf Clinic. We were blessed with a beautiful day for golf along with a challenging course and our golfers and volunteers finished the day with dinner under the Pavilion Tent. Our spring classic is already scheduled for June of 2024 at Redtail in Devens, MA and we look forward to seeing you there! Our Golf Committee is always looking for new volunteers to plan these events. Please reach out to Georgiana Olwell at [email protected] if you’d like to get involved.

Also in October, our Thought Leaders had an Open Mic breakfast where no topic was off limits for discussion! The group shared challenges, successes and best practices along with some interesting “stories.” Our Thought Leaders programs are open to FM professionals only and are a mix of live and virtual programs generally based around the 11 core competencies of facilities management.

Pegasystems welcomed IFMA Boston to their new location in Waltham on November 8th and shared how they designed their new office during the pandemic with the idea of “making the office a magnet for their employees, NOT a mandate.” Melodee Wagen, MCR of The Khoury School of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University and co-chair of the Think Tank Committee led a lively discussion with Cora Visnick from Visnick and Caulfield and Stephen Ferrick from Pegasystems. Thank you to all involved for making the event a success.

The 2022 Volunteer Appreciation event held at ezCater in downtown Boston.

If the holidays and work have you stressed, join us on Monday, December 11th as we host a webinar on the Secret to Being Powerfully Productive with Margo Crawford of Wave Productivity.

Last, but not least, we celebrated our volunteers who make our programming come to life on December 4th at Kings in Burlington.

Happy Holidays from everyone at IFMA Boston. We look forward to a wonderful 2024 and hope to see you at our upcoming events.
