IFMA Boston's Emerging Leaders: An interview with the co-chairs - By Shane Savoie and Carolyn Manoukian

What is the Emerging Leaders Network (ELN)? The Emerging Leaders Network is a group within IFMA Boston that plans and promotes programming geared towards FM professionals within their first ten years out of school. What is the purpose or mission of the ELN? The Emerging Leaders Network (ELN) is an extension of IFMA Boston for young professionals within the facility management industry who may or may not already be IFMA members. Through the ELN, we are able to meet new people, learn about the IFMA Chapters, and gather to relate on both professional and personal levels outside of traditional chapter events. By providing educational opportunities, sharing best practices, and peer mentoring we strive to help young professionals transition into the workplace and ultimately obtain the tools they need to move forward with their careers. How can up and coming leaders get involved in IFMA Boston and the ELN? By participating in ELN events, attendees can hope to broaden their professional network in an environment with many others looking to accomplish the same goal. Why did you get involved in IFMA Boston? We got involved with IFMA Boston, through the encouragement of our Wentworth professors, to expand our knowledge base by attending educational programs, in addition to our professional contact network. Often times we call upon these contacts for questions or advice we need help with in every day work situations.
