Interstate Electrical wins national excellence in construction award for Philips Exeter project

October 01, 2008 - Northern New England
Interstate Electrical Services Corp. received national recognition for its role in the renovation/construction of Philips Exeter Academy's new Academy Center. Interstate was awarded an Excellence in Construction Award by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). Interstate previously was awarded an Excellence in Construction award by the New Hampshire/Vermont chapter of ABC. Placing in local competition is a prerequisite for entering a project in the national competition.
The Academy Center project consisted of extensive renovation and expansion of the Thompson Science Building.  This LEED certified project involved replacing the entire electrical distribution and fire alarm system, as well as the installation of a complex lighting system. Because the project spanned the school year, safety was also an important theme.
Shawmut Design & Construction was the general contractor for the project and RFS Engineering was the commissioning agent responsible for LEEDS compliance and certification.
