IREM Connecticut Chapter #51 held their 2012 award, designation, officer installation and holiday party at Testa's Banquet Facility on December 13. This event is always a success as IREM members, friends of IREM and others all join together and celebrate as another year comes to a close.
IREM was honored to have Sgt. Romero, along with Sgt. McDonald of the USMC to join them for the evening as representatives of the "Toy For Tots" program. Sgt. Romero opened the evening with a few minutes to discuss the "Toys For Tots" program that was, again, the chapter's benefit recipient. All attendees were asked to bring an unwrapped, new toy to be presented to children through the program.
Thomas Bourque of Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA)was welcomed into the IREM Member Ranks as a new Certified Property Manager (CPM).The IREM Pledge was administered by Jason Falcetta, chapter president, after which Tom's wife Jane, ceremonially "pinned" him with several fellow CHFA staffers cheering him on.
Mel Cote, CPM of Simons Real Estate Group was presented with the 2012 CPM of the Year. Falcetta, while making the surprise announcement of the award, explained how Cote has been a past chapter president, as well as a past national regional VP, and how his continued support of the chapter and the institute made him the perfect recipient of the award.
Pat Soucy of SecurAmerica was then presented with the 2012 Friend of the Year. Through Pat's involvement, SecurAmerica has been a steady supporter of the chapter and various events held through the year as well as his input on the chapter's executive council.
Linda Libertino, CPM and past president then presented and installed the 2013 chapter officers:
J. Jason Falcetta, CPM, ACoM - president
Sandi Siedel, CPM - vice president
Laura Waldrop, CPM - treasurer
Heather Phillips, ARM, CPMC - chapter secretary.
