IREM President’s Message: Find time to relax this month

August 05, 2022 - Owners Developers & Managers

For some industries, there’s never really a good time to take time off, and property management definitely falls into that category. But especially as we enter into the last full month of summer, and take stock of how fast the time seems to go, I would encourage everyone to find some time to separate and recharge, in any way you’re able. Whether that’s taking time off, going away somewhere, and completely unplugging, or just making sure a colleague can cover any incoming issues for a few hours while you take a little time to unwind, it’s so important for our own health and wellness that we have these opportunities to step back and recharge. And what’s even more? Doing so helps us to be better at our jobs! By taking a well-timed respite, we can come back to our positions energized and ready for any (well, almost any!) challenge.

In addition to taking some time off, taking some time to talk to colleagues in the field is also invaluable when it comes to thinking about alternative ways of doing things, building connections with future resources, and sharing part of your day with people who understand your industry. It’s been great to see so many people at our recent events (more photos in this month’s issue!), and we’re looking forward to many more opportunities!

In fact, next month we have a lot to look forward to! Our annual golf tournament is September 12th at Granite Links, and the competition should be fierce, especially with so many people picking up pointers from the golf pros at last month’s networking event at Crossing Nines!

Wishing you restful and relaxed August days, and looking forward to seeing you reinvigorated and ready to hit the links in September!

Photos this month come from last month’s networking event – with over 100 attendees! – at Crossing Nines at Granite Links. Special thanks to our sponsors of the event, Flynn Law Group, Paul Davis Restoration, ServiceMaster by Gilmore, Devaney Energy, Lofty Builders, ServiceMaster Disaster Associates, Inc., Swirling Milton Winnick Public Insurance Adjustors, Inc., and Norfolk Multi-Family Cabinets and Countertops.
