IREM president's message: Planning for 2014!

The Nominating Committee of the Boston Chapter #4 met in July, in order to discuss the suggested candidates for open Board positions and committees in 2014. The current board leadership is committed to growing our core group to include newer members to the chapter and to the industry. This allows us to continue to grow and also provides fresh ideas and insights for future chapter events and gatherings. We are excited to say that we have a great list of candidates for 2014! We are looking forward to the approval and induction of these prospective Board members and wish them much success in the coming year. Upcoming Events: September - Golf Tournament - Don't forget the Annual Golf Tournament - to be held at Granite Links on September 9th. This is an afternoon event, with registration and the buffet lunch starting at 11:30am, Shotgun Start at 1:00 p.m. and Cocktail/Dinner with raffle and silent auction from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. We are also offering a golf clinic from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. November - Annual Awards Night - We are extremely excited to announce that we have engaged senator (MA) Scott Brown as our keynote speaker at the November 7th Annual Awards night. This will be held at the Seaport Trade Center in Boston, - we are expecting to see a large crowd, so please be sure to sign up early! Brown has a long history of public service, beginning as an assessor and selectman in the town of Wrentham. He then served in the Massachusetts legislature as a state representative for three terms and in the state senate for five years. After the passing of senator Kennedy, senator Brown won a special election to complete the three years left on that term. During his time in the U.S. senate, senator Brown was a ranking member on the Armed Services Committee as well as the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, the Veteran's Committee and the Committee on Small Business.
