J.K. Scanlan breaks ground on Village at 815 Main St. - 49 units

J.K. Scanlan Company, Inc. officially broke ground on April 12th for the new Village at 815 Main St. affordable housing development. Among the guests that attended and spoke at the ceremony were Charles Eisenberg, Eisenberg Consulting, congressman Barney Frank, secretary Gregory Bialecki, chairman of the Joint Committee on Housing, Kevin Honan, senator Marc Pacheco, selectman Jane Donahue, executive director of Mass Housing Partnership, Clark Ziegler and JKS Villages LLC, John Scanlan. The Village at 815 Main St. is the first Massachusetts recipient of Tax Credit Exchange funds to start construction. The funding is intended to create construction jobs in the short term and provide affordable housing opportunities. The Village at 815 Main St. will consist of 49 apartment homes on ten acres. The Village at 815 Main St. was designed by Civitects Architects and Planners and will be built by general contractor J.K. Scanlan Company, Inc. The project construction cost is $7.34 million. In addition to over $8.5 million of tax credit exchange funds provided through the Mass. Department of Housing and Community Development, The Village at 815 Main St. also received funding from the Affordable Housing Trust. Construction financing is being provided by The Property and Casualty Initiative and Boston Community Capital and permanent financing is being provided by Mass. Housing Partnership. The J.K. Scanlan project team consists of Andrew Baker, project executive, Anissa Leon, project manager, Patrick Scanlan, assistant project manager and Mel Dishman, project superintendent.
