Hanover, MA Jay Nuss Realty Group, LLC handled the sale of the Squires Restaurant, a landmark on Rte. 53 for 40 years.

Jay Nuss was the agent who represented the sellers, Paul Squires et al, trustees of The Washington Street Realty Trust. In addition to the 3,599 s/f restaurant building which includes a second floor apartment, the transaction included 13.39 acres, most of which is considered wetlands.

The restaurant, considered a landmark go-to destination for decades, shut down during COVID-19 and had been closed for several years. Squires was purchased by Jon D’Allesandro; he and Andrea Schnell, the owners of Sorelle’s in Abington, plan to open the restaurant under the name Sage & Salt.

“We are pleased to have been able to find a buyer for Paul and Cindy Squires,” said Nuss. “They are a great family and ran a successful business for many years. During the time we had the restaurant listed, we received many calls from local residents who were practically in tears over the restaurant closing, which is quite a testimony to how revered Paul Squires was in town and the manner in which he ran the restaurant.”

Paul Squires said, “Jay and his group were superb all the way through this process. We are grateful for their help.”

Nuss said, “We wish the Squires family the best of luck in what’s next for them, and also wish the new owners much success as they open here in Hanover.”
