Jewett Construction selected to design and build McFarland Ford’s renovation and 20,900 s/f addition

Exeter, NH McFarland Ford, at the corner of Rtes. 101 and 108, is a landmark car dealership that was first established in 1957. Over the years, the area around the property grew with new shopping centers, supermarkets and hotels transforming the Portsmouth Ave.  McFarland Ford selected construction management firm Jewett Construction to design and build the renovation and addition project. Jewett has recently completed other area projects including Exeter Subaru, Honda Barn in Stratham and the Exeter YMCA.

This Jewett design-build project was supported by DeStefano Architects and will include interior and exterior renovations to the facility, a 1,200 s/f showroom addition, and a 19,700 s/f building addition which will serve as new automotive service department and administrative space. The dealership will be updated to meet current energy use codes and is being fitted with modern solatube skylights and daylight harvesting to reduce cost and limit energy use.

Anticipated completion date is September 2017 and McFarland Ford will be open for business throughout construction.

As the Ford auto brand has grown and diversified with additional truck models, commercial utility vehicles and fuel efficient options, space has become more limited at McFarland Ford, and owner Sue McFarland Moynahan decided it was time for more space and a fresh look to better serve her customers.

Moynahan said, “We are very excited to begin this long awaited facelift and functional upgrade to our dealership to better serve our retail customers and commercial fleet business.”

Moynahan continues, “We chose Jewett Construction due to their vast experience in automotive dealership renovations, and their unique and creative approach to managing our business to keep us operational throughout the project.”
