June 15 submission deadline for Salve Regina's preservation conference

June 09, 2010 - Rhode Island
Salve Regina University is seeking papers for its 14th annual Conference on Cultural and Historic Preservation.
This year's conference, scheduled for Oct. 20 through 23, will focus on colonial architecture in Rhode Island and New England.
"Since the founding of our nation, Colonial architecture has been used to connote American values," the university said in a news release. "Its revival has been a constant theme in American architectural production and although dismissed by modernists, it continues to be a major force today."
The conference is a collaboration between Salve Regina University's department of cultural and historic preservation and the Providence Preservation Society. The groups said they are seeking papers or panels that examine an array of Colonial architecture topics from construction methods to preservation efforts and challenges.
The conference welcomes submissions from practitioners, preservationists and scholars of all academic disciplines, as well as from younger scholars and graduate students.
Proposals should include 250-word abstracts and CVs. Proposals must be sent by June 15.
